  • 2 cloves minced garlic fresh is best
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch or arrowroot powder for thickening

  • 2 cups cooked rice white or brown
  • sesame seeds for garnish, optional
  • green onions chopped, for garnish, optional
  • steamed veggies such as broccoli, bell peppers, or carrots

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and cook cubed chicken until browned and cooked through, about 5–7 minutes.
  2. Whisk together soy sauce, water, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil (if using), ginger, garlic, and cornstarch in a bowl to create the teriyaki sauce.
  3. Pour the teriyaki sauce over cooked chicken in the skillet, stirring gently and cook for another 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Prepare rice according to package instructions. Once the teriyaki chicken is ready, spoon it generously over the warm rice.
  5. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions as desired and serve with steamed vegetables on the side.
