Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add 1 diced onion, 1 cup diced celery, and 1 cup diced bell pepper, sauté for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in 4 minced garlic cloves and cook for an additional 1 minute.
  4. Add 12 ounces of sliced sausage to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes.
  5. Gently fold in 1 pound of shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add 2 cups of long-grain white rice, 2 tablespoons of Cajun seasoning, and 4 cups of chicken broth.
  7. Increase heat to bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
  8. After 20 minutes, remove from heat and let it rest covered for an additional 5 minutes.
