  • 1 clove Garlic Minced; fresh is preferred.
  • 1 tsp Dried Sage Use fresh sage if available, doubling the amount.
  • 1 tsp Dried Thyme Can substitute with Italian seasoning.
  • 0.25 tsp Ground Black Pepper Adjust to taste.
  • 0.25 tsp Salt Omit or reduce for low-sodium diets.
Pastry
  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry Thaw before use.
  • 1 large Egg Beaten; can replace with plant-based milk for vegan.
Cooking
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil Can substitute with butter or a neutral oil.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Gather all your ingredients and prepped tools.
  2. In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add ½ cup of finely diced onion and 1 minced garlic clove; sauté for 3-5 minutes.
  3. Combine onion and garlic with 1 lb of sausage meat, 1 tsp of dried sage, and 1 tsp of dried thyme. Season with pepper and salt; mix thoroughly.
  4. Unroll the thawed puff pastry onto a floured surface. Cut into 4x6 inch rectangles.
  5. Place 2 tablespoons of filling in the center of each pastry rectangle, fold edges over and seal tightly. Arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Make small slits on top of each roll. Brush with the beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Watch for a golden brown and puffed appearance.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with dipping sauces.
