Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and kosher salt until well combined.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semisweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and butter together.
  4. In a stand mixer, combine the eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract and beat until creamy.
  5. Slowly add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, mixing continuously until fully incorporated.
  6. Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with the root beer, until just combined.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 35–40 minutes or until just set.
  8. Cool the brownies completely in the baking dish on a wire rack.
  9. For the frosting, beat the softened butter and confectioners sugar together until smooth, then add root beer and extract.
