Dough Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, instant yeast, and honey. Let the mixture sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add beaten eggs, all-purpose flour, and salt. Stir until combined, then knead in softened butter for 4-5 minutes until smooth and slightly sticky.
First Rise
- Transfer kneaded dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour at room temperature.
Prepare Filling
- Mix softened butter, minced garlic, grated parmesan, chopped basil, thyme, and sage in a small bowl until well combined.
Shape the Bread
- Punch down risen dough and roll into a 12x18 inch rectangle. Spread the garlic herb butter mixture over the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, slice it lengthwise, twist the halves together, and shape into an S.
Second Rise
- Place twisted bread on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover loosely with a towel, and let rise for another 45 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped. Brush with melted butter after baking.
