Recipe Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing them generously with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, blend the wet ingredients: sugar, eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Slowly incorporate the dry mixture with the wet mixture, alternating with hot coffee until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness.
