  • 1 pound Ground Beef Use lean beef or turkey for a lighter version.
  • 2 medium Onions Sweet or yellow onions work best.
  • 1 cup Rice (long-grain) Do not substitute with instant rice.
  • 1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup Can be replaced with a gluten-free version.
  • 1 cup Beef Broth Vegetable or chicken broth can be used.

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low, add butter and onions. Sauté for 10-15 minutes until caramelized.
  4. Stir in uncooked rice, cream of mushroom soup, broth, and seasonings. Mix thoroughly.
  5. Pour mixture into a greased baking dish, cover with foil, and bake for 25 minutes.
  6. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese over the top, and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes.
  7. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
