  • 2 cups fresh strawberries substitute with frozen if fresh aren’t available
  • 1 cup granulated sugar optional sugar substitute for lighter taste
  • 1 cup water using filtered water elevates the flavor
For the Iced Tea
  • 3-4 bags black tea green or decaffeinated varieties work well too
  • 2 cups water boiling it before steeping ensures maximum flavor
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar more or less can be added to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice fresh juice is preferable, bottled works in a pinch
For Serving
  • as needed ice cubes larger cubes slow down dilution for longer enjoyment
  • as needed mint and sliced strawberries optional garnishes for visual appeal and freshness

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Wash and slice the fresh strawberries. In a medium saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat for 30 minutes until syrupy. Strain and cool.
  2. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add black tea bags and steep for about 5 minutes. Remove tea bags, stir in sugar until dissolved, and let cool.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine cooled strawberry syrup and brewed tea. Add 2 cups of cold water and lemon juice, stirring well.
  4. Serve in glasses filled with ice cubes and garnish with mint and strawberry slices if desired.
