Ingredients

For the Skillet
  • 1 pound Flank steak Perfect for grilling; it's tender and quick to cook.
  • 2 cups Yukon Gold potatoes Their creamy texture and buttery flavor complement the steak beautifully.
For the Flavoring
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Adds richness to the dish; substitute with olive oil for a dairy-free option.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Fresh garlic cloves provide the best flavor; feel free to adjust the amount to your taste.
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce Elevates the umami flavor profile; choose a low-sodium version for less saltiness.
  • Hot sauce A dash of heat can enhance the overall flavor—adjust to your liking.
For the Garnish
  • Fresh herbs (e.g., rosemary, thyme) These aromatic herbs elevate the dish's aroma; use dried herbs if fresh isn't available.

Equipment

  • Skillet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a bowl, combine flank steak with soy sauce, minced garlic, and chopped fresh herbs. Allow the steak to marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  2. While the steak marinates, wash and cut Yukon Gold potatoes into bite-sized pieces.
  3. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the prepared potatoes to the skillet, spreading them out in a single layer. Sauté them for about 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden brown and fork-tender.
  4. Once the potatoes are nearly done, push them to the side of the skillet and increase the heat to medium-high. Add the marinated flank steak to the pan, searing for 3–4 minutes on each side.
  5. After searing, reduce the heat back to medium and mix the potatoes and steak together in the skillet. Pour any remaining marinade over the top and stir gently.
  6. Cook for an additional minute, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully. Serve this delightful Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes hot for a satisfying meal.
