  • 1 cup Whole Milk or almond/oat milk for dairy-free
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream or half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract vanilla bean paste is also great
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon nutmeg can be used as an alternative
  • 1 pinch Salt balances flavors
For the Bread
  • 12-14 slices Brioche or Challah Bread slice thick for better soaking
For the Brûlée Topping
  • 2 tbsp Granulated Sugar for caramelizing on top

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Cut 12-14 slices of brioche or challah bread into 1-inch thick pieces and arrange in a greased baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 4 large eggs, 1 cup of whole milk, ½ cup of heavy cream, ½ cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the arranged bread slices, gently pressed down.
  4. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown on top.
  7. Remove from oven, sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and caramelize with a kitchen torch.
  8. Let cool slightly and serve topped with fresh berries and maple syrup.
